Catalina United Methodist Church is committed to putting
its faith into action by helping people meet their basic economic and
health care needs, working to achieve social justice, acting in a
socially responsible manner, and changing the systems that perpetuate
poverty and injustice. We are inspired to follow the teachings and
example of Jesus Christ, which call us to share God's love with those
in need and to make a difference in their lives. This is done by
mobilizing the resources and energy of our congregation, and by
working with other Christians and people from other faiths.
We work to achieve this mission by
- Sponsoring a variety of agencies and/or projects that both meet
people's immediate needs and provide long-term solutions to social
problems
- Educating ourselves about the opportunities to serve in and
support such activities
- Challenging ourselves to apply our
faith in a socially responsible manner
- Advocating for those who are disadvantaged in a manner that
supports and respects their own ability to help themselves
- Participating in ecumenical activities/programs
- Establishing covenant relationships with selected United Methodist
missionaries
