CATALINA YOUTH eNEWSLETTER #35
July 3, 2002

NOTES FROM RICHARD:

  • Have a great holiday tomorrow. I know most of you have been having one holiday after another since school was out, but take time to be with your family and thank God that you enjoy the freedoms and blessings of America.
  • THIS SUNDAY MORNING at 9:30 is when the youth class will meet. This is a change in time, and there will also be a temporary change in room. We will be meeting in H-232 (next door to the room we have been using) until there is air conditioning in the youth room. We are planning a lot of great stuff for this week, so don't miss it! I know this time change will fit a lot better into some of your Sunday morning schedules; especially those of you with siblings in the elementary Sunday School classes (which meet at 9:30).
  • THIS SUNDAY MORNING at 11:00 please join us in Fellowship Hall for the contemporary service. Many of your friends will be taking part in the service and we want this to be a special time for all youth and young people. Feel free to offer suggestions. This Sunday, July 7, begins Richard's ministry in the contemporary service. Check it out and see what it is like! The 11:00 service still needs a computer/powerpoint operator. I think some of you could do quite well at that.
  • THIS SUNDAY NIGHT we will not have regular youth group. There is an ice cream social and cookout for the whole church. It will begin at 5pm and end at 9pm. Come and bring your family and some friends! An offering will be received to help with the cost of food.
  • We will be assembling Primavera sack lunches this Sunday night. If you signed up Sunday to bring something, don't forget! If you didn't sign up yet, here is what we still need:
    10 pounds lunch meat
    3 loaves of bread
    30 individual-sized bags of chips
    18 pieces of fruit
You can commit to bringing any PART of the needed quantities. Please email me or call me if you are going to bring something. That way, I know not to buy it. We will assemble the lunches around 6:30pm, probably in E-23. Look for me or Jodi and we should be able to tell you what is going on.
  • Van to SENIOR HIGH CAMP will be leaving from First United Methodist Church (down on the University campus) parking lot at 11am on MONDAY, July 8. We will stop for lunch, so bring money for that. Richard will be driving this van and this is how Catalina youth who want a ride are getting to camp. Speaking of which, while I am at camp, you can get in touch with me by leaving a message at the church office. I will be calling in occasionally.
  • Youth ministry team/youth committee meeting and mission project meeting will be held Wednesday, July 17 at 7pm. We want to walk through our project and make sure all the details are covered. We also probably will have time to look at the rest of the summer calendar and start discussing our parent/teen/youth ministry orientation in the fall. If you are part of the missions project, you need to be here. You will get a lot of info about the week. If you are helping with one of the worship services, you will have time to get together with your partner(s) to prepare.
