Distributions from the Foundation are
made possible only by gifts and bequests (largely the latter) to the
Foundation. The good folks who preceded us here have made these funds
available to us now. Have you considered including the Church through
the Foundation in your estate plan? No remembrance is too small.
Bequests to the Foundation in the name of the Church become endowments
and are never spent. Only the earnings. Your bequest continues in
perpetuity growing through our investment policy and providing an
increasing stream of income for the Church. Do you want to be a part
of the future of this Church? Do you have an endowment you wish to
support? Do you have an idea for a new endowment that you would like
to support? The Foundation Trustees would be pleased to discuss any
aspect of the Foundation program with you. We can be reached through
the Church Office @
The Foundation has disbursed funds for Church Program and Property
needs, the use of which is decided by Church leadership.
Separately and recently funds have been pledged for Church office
refurbishing, the new program of mailings for Church growth, and
refurbishing the "upper room". Foundation support for the
Church is having a significant and increasing impact on the Church's
overall mission. The program of distributions started in 98-99.
Also, distributions have been made for Missions, Music, Scholarships
(both Ministerial & Non-ministerial), Day School, Senior Adult
Ministries, Memorial Gardens, and Library Fund.
If you
wish a bequest to exist in perpetuity and provide income for the needs
of the Church then please specify that the bequest be directed to
Catalina United Methodist Foundation.
Most people specify the Church as the
beneficiary of their estate plan. For this reason there is a long
standing agreement between the Church and the Foundation that all
gifts or bequests made to the Church of $1,000 or more go to the
Foundation for Endowment (perpetual income). Gifts or bequests to the
Church for less than $1,000 (most of these are memorials) go to the
Church for current use. This agreement has been in effect for many
years and is still applicable. However, at times there have been
differing interpretations of this policy.
The best way to direct bequests is to
specify in the will or trust that the proceeds go to the Catalina
United Methodist Foundation. That way there can be no question about
the intent of the donor.
