Are your children without health insurance because you can't afford it?
What is KidsCare?
KidsCare was established by the State of Arizona to
provide medical insurance for children of working parents. If your
employer does not offer health insurance for your children, if you are
self-employed, or if the high cost of health insurance prevents you
from enrolling your children, then KidsCare may be for you. With
KidsCare, children receive medical, dental and vision coverage at
little or no cost.
What does KidsCare cost?
KidsCare is inexpensive. How much a family pays (called
a "premium") is based on family income and the number of
children who qualify.
KidsCare will cost no more than $15 a month for one child, or no more
than $20 a month no matter how many children are in the household.
Some families may even receive KidsCare at no cost.
Do my kids qualify?
KidsCare is available to:
- Any child 18 years of age and younger who is a resident of
Arizona.
- Any child who is either a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant -
regardless of the status of the parents.
- Any child who is not covered by other health insurance

Local Social Services Agency Looks For
Volunteer Friendly Visitors
To The Elderly |
Family Counseling Agency
serves over 1,000 elderly and disabled clients every year in its
Services to Older and Disabled Adults (SODA) Program. Unfortunately,
FCA's clients have at least two (2) barriers to independent living.
Given that many of these clients do not come with a support network of
family and/or friends, it is not surprising to find that many request
the company of volunteer visitors.
Friendly Visitors provide
companionship and socialization for frail elders in the comfort and
flexibility of their homes. Volunteers spend an average of seven (7)
hours per month talking, walking, reading and visiting an assigned
client. Sometimes they might accompany clients to medical
appointments or perform other errands. Assignments are made according
to the geographic constraints and the interests of both clients and
volunteers. The time commitment is extremely flexible, but long-term
commitments are preferred for the sake of the client's stability.
If you are interested in
volunteering as a Friendly Visitor to an elderly person, please call
Alana Feldman Soler at (520) 327-4583, Ext. 171.

In the United States, someone is infected with HIV
every 13 minutes.
|
 |
There are more than 3,100 people in Pima County reported to be
infected with HIV. It is estimated that there may be an additional
3,000 to 4,000 unreported cases of infection.
|
 |
More than 410,800 Americans have died of complications related to
HIV/AIDS. That's more than all the Americans who died in the Korean,
Vietnam and Gulf Wars combined.
|
 |
Every hour, two Americans between the ages of 10 and 24 are
infected with HIV.
|
 |
Almost half of all new HIV infections worldwide occur in young
peopled aged 10-24.
|
 |
Worldwide, approximately 5.8 million more people were infected
with HIV in 1998. That's over 16,000 people every day. Almost half
of those people are women.
|
 |
It is estimated that by the year 2000, there will be over 100
million people worldwide infected with HIV.
|
 |
It is estimated that 75% of all AIDS cases worldwide are
transmitted by heterosexual sex.

make December a banner month with our donations of food on December 16
when you come to worship.
We have received a note from Ronald McDonald House thanking us for
our generous donation of baked goods for their families. Thank you,
