Catalina United Methodist Church Home
Who Owns the Church Buildings

The local church has its name on the deed, and local trustees are responsible for managing that property. But no matter how the deed is written, the local church holds the property in trust for future generations of United Methodists. The annual conference guarantees that trust and is ultimately responsible for the property. Our founder, John Wesley, established this "trust clause" to protect "preaching houses" where United Methodist pastors serve and laypersons worship. Wesley wanted to make sure no one could give away the property or use it for any other purpose.
